A CI art hackathon was organised by CASTOR and KTH in the decommissioned nuclear reactor R1 on 14 October 2019. This page serves as an archive of that day.

Passionate and creative software students, software developers, artists, designers and curious citizens participated in the first ever performance of software art based on continuous integration data. During this hackathon, 23 teams delved into the extraordinary activity that occurs in a continuous integration server through visual and sound representations.

The whole idea of the hackathon was very much inspired by previous software art projects.

Travis timezones — The purpose of this visualization tool is to estimate where the amount of commits happens in the world, calculated from the timezone the commit is updated from. With every commit the time is documented. The

Travis the Piano Playing Dog — Contribution to Ci Art Hackathon, and a visualization of Travis. In this project the speed of the video of a dog playing piano is controlled by the number of travis messages per second. Iteration 1.

Nebula — A contribution to the KTH CI hackathon, the first ever CI art hackathon. The idea is to create a pulsing nebula were the size of each ‘beat’ is dependent och the amount of successfull commits

ci poetry — The interactive installation ci-poetry simulates the concept of collaborative coding or continuous integration (CI) through generative poetry creation. The installation has been designed for the specific context of R1, Sweden’s first reactor hall, now dismantled

Parcor — Parcor is an interactive parallel coordinate plot. It takes a stream of integers as input as a list of axes. Parcor is a useful visualization of realtime data to quickly diagnose what is happening.

CI Gears — Starting jobs are visualised as an arc on the gear with a colour that depends on what language and as soon as the job is finished it’s removed from the gear. A bell like sound

CI 3D chains — A roaming in the ci universe Description The project is to present CI/CD build into 3D chains, where each repo will be added into the main chain and all new builds will be rotating around
